One thing is cleaning and disinfecting is another. Cleaning means removing germs in general, but not killing them. The term “germs” include bacteria, fungi and viruses. In case of having a person sick from COVID-19 at home, this person must have a bathroom exclusively for themselves, but we must pass from cleaning to disinfecting the house in general.

Disinfecting must be done, first of all, in places and surfaces commonly in touch with human fluids or that are usually touched, Doorknobs are one of those surfaces qe do not care much about, but they are a high potential infection focus.

Aerosol disinfectant is especially important nowadays. Spread it frequently all over the house and let it act for about 10 minutes. It is also important to keep the place ventilated, opening Windows. Closed spaces help viruses to steay concentrated, and more dangerous.

Do not use products that say they sanitize surfaces, as they may kill bacteria, but we need them to also kill fungi and viruses. Therefore, make sure the label says it is a real disinfectant.

For bathrooms spcifically, not only it matters to disnfect hard surfaces such as the floor, walls, toilettes, showers or sinks. It is crucial to change toothbrushes and towels very often and spread disinfectant if aerosol several times a day. If your bathroom has no windows, make sure it receives air from the nearest ones. Closed places tend to help viruses to concentrate.

People with slight or no symptoms of Covid-19, but positive in tests, can get over the infection at home. The important thing is they are monitored by a physician and stay in a room and using a bathroom isolated from other family members. However, remember that in that case is not anymore about cleaning, but disinfecting.
